Frequently Asked Questions
How do I remove a white background from an image? ▾
Load your image, then either use "Auto-Detect Mode" which finds and removes the background automatically, or use "Color Pick Mode" to click directly on the white area. Adjust the tolerance slider if some white pixels remain or if too much is removed.
What is tolerance and how do I set it? ▾
Tolerance controls how similar a pixel's color needs to be to the selected color to be removed. A low value (10–20) removes only pixels very close to the chosen color. A high value (50–80) removes a wider range of similar shades. Start at 30 and adjust from there.
Why does the output export as PNG only? ▾
Only PNG supports full transparency (alpha channel). JPG and WebP do not support transparent backgrounds — saving as JPG would replace transparency with white, defeating the purpose of this tool.
Will it work on complex backgrounds like photos? ▾
This tool works best on solid or near-solid backgrounds (white, grey, green screen, etc.). For complex photographic backgrounds with gradients or mixed colors, the results will be less accurate. For those cases, AI-powered tools like remove.bg may give better results.
Are my images uploaded to a server? ▾
No. Everything runs entirely in your browser using the HTML5 Canvas API. Your images are never sent to any server, making this tool completely private and instant.
