Frequently Asked Questions
What is Minesweeper? ▾
Minesweeper is a single-player logic puzzle game. The board consists of a grid of hidden cells, some of which conceal mines. Your goal is to reveal all safe cells without triggering a mine, using number clues to deduce which cells are dangerous.
Is this Minesweeper free to play? ▾
Yes! This Minesweeper is completely free to play online — no download, no registration, no subscription required. Just open the page and start playing.
Can I play Minesweeper on mobile? ▾
Absolutely. The game is fully responsive. On mobile, use the Flag Mode toggle button to switch between revealing cells and placing flags — since right-click isn't available on touch screens.
What is the difference between Easy, Medium and Expert? ▾
Easy is a 9×9 grid with 10 mines — perfect for beginners. Medium is 16×16 with 40 mines. Expert is the hardest: 30×16 with 99 mines, matching the original Windows Minesweeper Expert level.
What is the best strategy for Minesweeper? ▾
Start by clicking a corner or edge cell — the first click is always safe. Use number clues to flag mines, then chord-click (when all neighboring mines are flagged) to reveal safe cells faster. On harder levels, some guessing may be unavoidable.
How is my score calculated? ▾
Your score is based on your completion time. On Easy, the maximum score is 1000 minus your time in seconds. Medium gives up to 3000 points and Expert up to 10000. The faster you win, the higher your score.
