Use consistent units. Metric: kilograms and centimetres. Imperial: pounds and inches (12 in = 1 ft).
Divide cm by 100. Example: 175 cm ÷ 100 = 1.75 m. Then square it: 1.75 × 1.75 = 3.0625
Metric: 70 ÷ 3.0625 = 22.9. Imperial: 703 × 154 ÷ (69 × 69) = 22.7
Below 18.5 = underweight. 18.5–24.9 = normal. 25–29.9 = overweight. 30+ = obese.
